Wedding Stories

"Now join hands, and with your hands your hearts."
William Shakespeare

I met with my most recent bride a few days ago. My sense is that shooting her engagement photos as well as all of her pre-wedding activities is going to be great fun. I love when brides have a real sense of themselves and are really relaxed as they make their plans for the big day. It bodes well for all that is to come, and even more for the couple's future relationship!

Sending off slideshows and galleries to brides and families yesterday and today. That’s such a great feeling that never gets old. Some of these slideshows we’ve even cried over. It’s amazing the tug that certain weddings can have on your heart.....

Karie and Geoff...

This is one of the truest love stories we’ve ever shot. Karie and Geoff’s story is one of diligence and commitment, heart, and dedication. We came into their story one cool, crisp evening. A night that eclipsed all others with joy and laughter, toasts, and dancing. Friends came with hearts full of love and best wishes and joined in with a group prayer to start the couple off with blessings. It has been wonderful to see how God has used one puzzle piece after another to put together a full and everlasting wedding picture for this dear couple. Best wishes you two!

Rachell and Addidon...

Today we’ve been editing another wedding. Our dear friend’s son was just married at the beautiful Whetstone Park of Roses. A beautiful location to match the hearts of the bride and groom. This was one of the most emotion-filled weddings we’ve ever been to. The bride almost couldn’t stand still, so excited was she to be joining heart and hands with her intended. And the precious groom was tear-filled throughout the entire ceremony....a deep hearted young man.

The location was so fulll of life. Vivid and vibrant in every way! By the way....so many weddings....but we never grow jaded....this one in fact had us in tears as we finalized the slideshow. What a joy to be invited to attend such a wonderful day alongside our friends! We hope you’re all forever blessed by our gift of photos to you!

Jillian and Andy....

We’ve started working with the photos from a wedding that took place before the “big wind” came through here and downed many of our backyard trees. The remnant of Hurricane Ike made its way forcefully through our area, took out power for several days, and just generally wreaked havoc. Thank goodness for the neighborliness that rose up throughout those days!

So we’ve now recovered and have opened up the legions of shots from this past wedding, and are in awe again at the beauty that each wedding holds! This wedding happens to be our niece and her husband. They have a unique wedding story in that just a mere month before their wedding date, the groom was terribly injured in an industrial accident. He was life-flighted to a metropolitan hospital a few towns away, and spent the next several days enduring surgeries and the start of a slow recovery from his injuries.

Many prayers, and their love and bond with each other carried them through the weeks after the injury. They determinedly claimed their Wedding Day, regardless of the challenges that had walked alongside them in the weeks prior. Bravo to our dear one’s hearts that would no longer wait!

The wedding events were abounding in love and thanksgiving! The bride was radiant and peaceful.....and the groom was strong and determined. The richness of their commitment was evident in each touch they brought to the day. And we felt such joy for our sister and brother, as they welcomed all to share in their joy of handing their beloved daughter into the capable hands of such a dear man!

Jaclyn and Paul....

A beautiful wedding today! We actually were able to just attend this wedding, which stirred our hearts about weddings in general again. It was so nice to be able to be a guest at this wedding of the daughter of a dear friend and boss!

The ceremony itself took place in a marvelous Catholic Church and the organist truly “let out all the stops”! We’ve honestly never heard such beautiful wedding music! Joyous! The bride was so elegant as she slipped up the aisle to be by her groom, who was like a kid in the candy shop, so happy to be with her!

The solemn vows behind them, all events shifted to Granville, and the beautiful Bryn du Mansion. Toasts, laughter, and dancing ensued......truly a celebration for all!

It was fun for us because we were able to actually SIT for a wedding! We were at Table 10, and enjoyed the wonderful smoked chicken and brisket, the delicious cheesy potatoes, and the marvelously moist cake! Laughter abounded between us coworkers and spouses, and soon the night sky darkened and invited us to meander back to our homes, feeling richly blessed to have shared in this marvelous day!

Jenni and Travis....

Once upon a time, our dear “almost” daughter was stationed many thousands of miles away at Lakenheath Air Force Base in England. For two long years she struggled to meet all the standards required of her by the military, and contended with the loneliness that can’t help but be a part of each day when you’re so far away from your family. Long calls, and many tears....but day by day our girl grew stronger and more sure of her place . And as she did, a surprise began to build in her life. The one. The nameless, faceless man that all young girls think upon and pray for was little-by-little taking on definite shape beside her. This young man made her laugh, made her feel safe, nurtured her, encouraged her. This young man eventually asked our girl to be his wife during a trip to Italy, and suddenly our girl had a ring on her finger!

As they braced their hearts for her impending transfer to Vance Air Force Base, and his continued tenure in England, much sadness grew regarding their pending separation. But also much sureness they they HAD INDEED found “the one”!

So.....one early day at her new location in Enid, Oklahoma’s Vance AFB, with her fiance due to arrive for a two week leave, our girl and her man determined to marry while he was there, and solidify their bond! And so it happened! A dress, a dear mother-in-law who helped arrange all the details, a brief time with the Justice of the Peace, and ......our girl was married! A regular Texas size barbeque.... tickets to the Dallas Cowboys game.... and our girl officially joined the beloved cowboy culture of “protect your wife at all costs.”

Weddings come in all shapes and sizes.....all feels....elegant or casual, big or small. This terrific Texas wedding met all our girl’s needs. We know she had the wedding of her dreams, as she married this dear man who is her knight in shining armor. We bless them!
